The Nature I’ve Seen

Topic for today’s Daily Prompt : The Natural World

I spend first few years of my life in my grandparent’s house that had a beautiful garden and trees everywhere. It also had a great view of a part of the Western Ghats. I fell in love in nature at that point itself. The place I grew up in  is a town named Palakkad in Kerala, India.

The first photo is the view we had from the terrace at my grandparent’s house. The hills you see in the photo are part of the Western Ghats and the region is known as Malampuzha.

The rest of the pictures where taken during a train journey which passes through Walayar Deer Sanctuary, Palakkad.

I had a hard time getting good shots from a moving train on my mobile camera so some parts of the photos look a little blurred.

Always A Companion

For this week’s Photo Challenge  the topic is Companionable.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear that are books. They have always been a there for me. When I had no friends, during tough times in my life or simply when I wanted to lay back and relax.

Books

I picked few books by some of my favorites authors to keep in the background. My bookshelf is not in a condition to be photographed right now. Will clean it up and post some photos in the future.

Hunting Skills

Here is my post for today’s Daily Prompt: We Can Be Taught!

Simba And Patches

This photo was taken in 2011 during a practice session on hunting skills . The mother cat was not my pet but was a frequent visitor and decided that my house was good enough a place to raise her kids.

These guys were quite adept at finding things to play with. As they grew up their mom started giving them lessons on hunting using ropes, paper balls or live rats. She would show them how to crouch, how to pounce and how to kill.Needless to say I wasn’t a fan of the live rat sessions because that meant I had to join them and I try to throw away the rat before they created a mess.

When this photo was taken their mom had finished a demo and left them to continue on their own while she watched from a distance. In their little kitten minds the rope probably took the form of a snake. They pounced and tugged and chewed it for a long time. Then got bored and went back to running around the house.
