Sunday Song # 8

Song : “Breakeven” by  The Script

This is another of my favorite bands. The Script is an Irish band from Dublin who released their first album in 2008.Most of their songs are about heartbreak and lost love but they don’t use sad music and use good beats instead. I like the lead singer’s voice and their lyrics.

The song below is my favorite from the band as of now. I love the lyrics and the music. It is from their first album. The music at the starting of the song used to be my ringtone. They released their third album last year and it looks just as good as the ones before.

Other songs that you might like:

  • For the first time
  • The man who can’t be moved
  • Nothing
  • Millionaires
  • If you ever come back
  • Hall of fame
  • Six degrees of separation

Sunday Song # 7

Song  : Harlem by New Politics.

Most of the time I prefer songs with great to moderately good lyrics but some time all I want is good music. Great beats, fun tune, in short music that you can just listen to feel good and maybe dance a little.

Two days ago I heard the song “Harlem” playing on AXN and loved the music instantly, the lyrics weren’t that bad either.  New Politics is a rock band from Copenhagen, Denmark. Their music is mainly alternative rock, pop and punk.I have listened to some of their songs and I’ve mentioned some of the goods ones below.

Other songs :

  • Tonight You are Perfect
  • Dignity
  • Give me hope
  • Stuck on you

Sunday Song# 6

Song: Somebody that I used to know(Cover) by Walk Off The Earth.

This band is more famous for their covers of songs by other artists. From what I’ve seen the best cover is of Gotye’s – “Somebody that I used to know” because not only is their vocals good but the whole band is also playing one single guitar simultaneously to create the background music.

They released an EP in 2012 and these are the best songs from it : “Red Hands”
and “Gang of Rhythm”.What I like about their songs is that they always have really good background music.  Listen and enjoy.

Sunday Song#5

Song: Another Day In Paradise by Phil Collins from the album “…But Seriously”(1989).

This is one of my dad’s all time favorite songs. I grew up listening to Phills Collins, Queen, Pink Floyd, etc. Dad used turn the the TV to an english music channel in the mornings and we used to listen to these artists and others everyday while we got ready for work or school (in mycase).

My Take On The Daily Prompt(The Artist’s Eye)

I know the prompt says to write about a painting or sculpture I’m drawn to but I’m writing about an artist whose paintings where one of the first I saw as a child and fell in love with it instantly. The artist was my maternal grandfather.

My Grandad - The artist

My Grandad – The artist

He passed away when my mom was just a teenager so I never got to meet him. My mom had a collection of his sketches and paintings. When I first saw the paintings I didn’t actually know anything about art. I was too small to understand art and artists because at that time what I drew with my crayons was to me just as same as art. Older people drew big and complex pictures, kids like me drew smaller ones that are not so complex. After growing up I was able to admire his work and see more clearly how he brought pictures to life.

There is no lack of talent in my family. There are artists, sculptors, dancers, singers and writers but the first person that comes to mind when it comes to talent is my grandad.

There are two sketches I like the most and I can still recall both of them with every detail. One is a pencil sketch called “Light and Shade”, I can still see clearly in my mind the way he captured light falling on a corridor through arches and the shadows where the light couldn’t reach, every detail and shade was perfectly produced on paper with his pencil. The other one is a painting of a white kitten against a black background. The fur and eyes of the kitten was done so beautifully that you almost felt it is going to come out of the painting any minute. Unfortunately I don’t have the paintings with me or photographs of them right now, so I can’t share it with you all.

The main reason I fell in love with his paintings was that this was the proof to the life lived by a person I never met. Through his art I could see what he saw in the world through his eyes as an artist.

Sunday Song #3

Song – Counting Stars by One Republic from their third studio album Native.

Another of the bands that I like listening to (a lot)! Other songs that I like from this band are:

  • Good Life
  • Stop and stare
  • All the right moves
  • Secrets
  • Feel Again
  • Apologize
  • If I lose myself.

Why I like their songs? The reason: their songs,at-least he ones I mentioned above, have a good rhythm and beats.

I really like the music in this song(it starts after the first 22 seconds).

If you have any suggestions for other good songs by the band or similar songs by any other band, do let me know.

Three Current Favorites On TV

I read a couple of blogs today where people wrote of favorites. Favorites movies, music, etc. So I thought I’ll join the club and write about the my three favorite guys on television right now. These guys have remained my favorites for some years now and will probably remain so for some more years. Continue reading to see the names and what I found to be the best character they portrayed. mash

So without further ado, here’s the guys :

1. Norman Reedus
Character: Daryl Dixon
Show: The Walking Dead

I liked watching Boondock Saints, I know it’s a terrible movie but I just couldn’t stop watching. The plot is so ridiculous in it and even though it’s supposed to be an action movie it felt more like a comedy or spoof.Even so I did like Norman Reedus in the movie and he’s the reason why I started watching The Walking Dead. It turned out to be the best show I’ve seen, other than Friends. The show wouldn’t be the same without Daryl Dixon. Who would thought a character like that would create such a big fan base. Credit for that goes to Reedus for doing a terrific job of bringing to life the zombie a** kicking, crossbow-wielding bad a**. Eagerly waiting for the next season of the show.

2. Tyler Hoechlin
Character: Derek Hale
Show: Teen Wolf

Okay, so this guy’s acting like a werewolf/tough guy is great but whether he can do other roles is left to be seen. I haven’t seen him in any other movie or tv show so I can’t tell how good he can act in a-normal-person role. Good actor or not this guy makes my list on looks alone. 😉

3. Matt Bomer
Character: Neil Caffery
Show: White Collar

You have probably seen the show or seen him on Magic Mike or in Glee, and there’s no lack of talent he can act, dance and sing. Being the art thief turned CI on White Collar is what I believe his best acting. I haven’t seen him in any other movie or show than those mentioned above. But judging from White Collar we will probably be seeing more from him in years to come.

Feel free to let me, and everyone else who are reading, know who your favorites are.
