Mayflowers In August

I enjoy going for walks here. The whole lane is bordered by Mayflower trees on both sides. When its spring and all the flowers start blooming the place gets filled with butterflies. It’s also a short cut to reach the nearest mall so I go through here all the time. The ones which I took photos of are not that big. They were planted just a couple of years ago. There are bigger ones on the other streets but couldn’t get a good photo of them.

A Day Out

Spent the day with my friend – roaming around and getting some errands done. Stopped by the local pond(more of a lake), the area around which has been converted to a small park and enjoyed the cool breeze and ice creams. My friend bought a new mobile with 8 MP camera so decided to take some shots with that.

Tried to brighten up the image a little. The sky was overcast and it started raining a short while after we got there..

Will post more photos soon.

Daily Prompt : Dinner

Prompt for today:
Photographers, artists, poets: show us DINNER.

I’m not that good when it comes to plating so I don’t how good my dinner looks to you but it sure was tasty.

Dinner for today was Veg Chow Mein and some potato wedges( and spicy ketchup). This was the only edible thing I could make with the items in the house right now.I think I did pretty well. 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

This week’s photo challenge theme is Fresh.
Perfect timing for the theme. I clicked these photos a few days ago and was planning on posting them .

These are the leaves of a lily I have in my small garden. They remain fresh, green and beautiful like this for the whole year except for the two months when the flowers start blooming at which time all of the leaves fall out.

Fresh and green after a rain.

Probably what it looks like for the bugs.

Crape Jasmine

These are very common here in India. I’ve seen it everywhere but knew it only by the local name.
I found out yesterday about the English names. They seem to have three names Crape Jasmine, East Indian Rosebay and Pinwheel flower.
It doesn’t have a scent nor does it have any vibrant shades of color so they aren’t used for any decorative purposes.
I was really surprised that it was actually more useful than typical garden flowers because the plant is supposed to have medicinal properties.

Weekly Photo Challenge- The Golden Hour

I tried to take a new photograph for this week’s photo challenge but it’s been grey and cloudy skies day after day and no hint of any shades of sunset or the sun. So I decided to go with a photo I took a year ago. I clicked it while travelling to Mookambika temple in Karnataka.

For those who haven’t seen in already I’ve included two other photos I posted before that was taken around the time of sunset.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic

For this week’s Photo Challenge I chose a photo of my High School.

What it reminds me of are my friends. High School was somewhat of a painful experience. The only good thing that happened to me there was the friends I made. Infact that is one thing I cherish the most about that place .  Five years later we still remain the best of friends.

This photo is of the school corridors where we used to spent time during breaks –  laughing, joking and making fun of each other.

The One Taking The Photograph

 Daily Prompt : Tables Turned

Are you as comfortable in front of a camera as behind one? Being written about, as well as writing?

The answer for the first is a definite no! I love taking photographs but not being  the subject of a photograph.

I take hundreds of photos at parties, get-togethers or when on holiday but I’ll only be there in five or six of them.  I take photos because I like to capture a moment, in a way I’m freezing it forever. This probably started because I had to move around so much and everything in life kept changing so photographs became the means to remember.

I probably should also mention the fact the I was always a little crazy when it came to photographs(emphasis on crazy). My parents tell me that when I was a toddler I had a habit of waking up at three in the morning. I would then wake my parents up and ask them to bring all the albums and will go through the photographs and ask what was going on when each photograph was taken. My parents lost a lot of sleep that way. This went on for almost a year till they had enough of it and made me get rid of that habit.

As for writing, I’ve mentioned it a lot of times already but once again – I like to write .
No one has ever written about me and I don’t think anyone will find much to write anyway. Though if someone does write I wouldn’t have a problem with that(as long as whatever is written doesn’t have a photograph of me attached to it).
